The Biggest Bedroom Design Trends for 2019

If the previous year is any indication, this year’s bedroom remodeling trends range from more eclectic to minimalist. Full-service kitchen remodeling services contractor Advantage Contracting shares this year’s biggest bedroom design trends.

Gold Accents

Gold accents have been trending for quite some time and there’s no sign of it losing popularity. Gold nightstands, in particular, seem to be a design favorite. Gold accents such as ornamental pieces or a pattern done in gold paint work best on dark walls, creating a bold and striking visual element to an otherwise plain-looking wall.

Controlled Mess

Small rooms can be designed in such a way that they look messy but they really aren’t. Mismatched furniture, stacks of books on the floor and asymmetrical bed placement are just a few of the things that you can do with this style. It has apparently caught on and many companies that offer bedroom and kitchen remodeling services are incorporating this “controlled mess” style into the bedroom design.

Concrete Walls

Concrete walls recall the minimalist designs from the 18th-century industrial revolution, with a stark gray look and exposed fasteners. Combined with modern furniture juxtaposed against painted perpendicular walls, it can create a contrast in visual texture that’s almost like a painting. With this in mind, there’s little wonder concrete walls are becoming a bedroom design trend.

Urban Industrial

Another variation of industrial design works best in homes with existing interior brick walls. Forget the drywall; a bare brick wall adds so much character. Take it up a notch by eliminating the ceiling and incorporating exposed ductwork and routing into the design. Combined with slim-legged metallic furniture and minimalist furniture, you have an urban industrial design that won’t go out of style any time soon. Note that if you’re having the ceiling removed, make sure the roof decking has sufficient insulation or the room may become uncomfortable during climatic extremes.
